Catie Castellini was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called CDKL5 around her 2nd birthday. CDKL5 results in early on-set seizures, and, often severe neuro-development impairment. At the time of Catie’s diagnosis, there was only 200 known cases in the world making it a very rare disease. CDKL5 is considered a variant form of Rett syndrome, a genetic mutation with similar features that occurs in young girls. Catie and her family are great friends and supportors of Chica Sport and now we want to support Catie and help find cure!
Because it is so rare, support for research to discover the causes and hopefully a cure for CDKL5 is still growing. Chica Sport is committed to helping in those efforts. A special Chica Band was designed with the message of Hope, Love, Cure! For every Hope, Love, Cure Chica Band that is purchased, Chica Sport will donate $4 to the International Foundation for CDKL5 Research.
